UHP. RILP.Review of International Law and Politics. Uluslararası Hukuk ve Politika . The RILP is a quarterly well-respected journal of International Relations and International Law.

Independent scholarly referee journal. Published four times a year by the USAK, Ankara, Turkey since 2004.

The Review of International Law and Politics (RILP) / Uluslararası Hukuk ve Politika (UHP) is a refereed journal and published four times (Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn) a year. RILP publishes scholarly theoretical and empirical articles in in international relations and international law in English, Turkish and German languages. Each issue contains full lenghth research articles, review articles, dicussion essays and book reviews.




The Editorial Office of the RILP is in International Strategic Research Organisation (ISRO - USAK) central building in Ankara, Turkey. However the journal is an independent publication in terms of scientific research and the editors decide its publication policy.

    RILP focuses on international law and international relations yet the journal also accepts studies on area studies (Balkans, Caucasus, Europe, Central Asia etc.), international security, international relations sociology, sociology, anthropology in general from all over the world. The journal encourages interdisciplinary studies. Manuscripts submitted to RILP should be original and challenging, and should not be under consideration by another publication at the time of submission.

    Previously published articles in other languages may be considered by the journal for the first publication English (Turkish or German) translation. In that case the author should so state at the time of submission, provide relevant written copyright approval by the publication to the RILP. We also welcome short pieces on recent developments, review articles, photographic essays and collaborative essays.

    Articles submitted for consideration of publication are subject to peer review. The editorial board and editors takes consideration whether submitted manuscript follows the rules of scientific writing. The appropriate articles are then sent to three international referees known for their academic reputation in their respective areas.
  • The Editors and referees use a three-step guidelines in assessing submissions:
  • i) Literary quality: Writing style, usage of the language, organisation (paragraphing, syntax, flow etc.)
  • ii) Use of references. Referencing, sources, relationships of the footnotes to the text.
  • iii) Scholarship quality: Depth of research, quality; contribution, originality of the contribution (new and creative thought) and plausibility of the author’s argument.
  • Upon the referees’ decision, the articles are to be published in the journal, or rejected for publication.

    Aim

    RILP’s aim is to generate a productive dialogue and exchange between theorists, writers and practitioners in disparate locations. RILP assume that one of the main problem in international relations and international law is lack of dialogue between writers and scholars from different cultural backgrounds.

    The Review of International Law and Politics (RILP) / Uluslararası Hukuk ve Politika (UHP) is a refereed journal and published four times (Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn) a year. The Editors welcome studies that address fundamental questions about International Law and International Relations issues. The RILP publishes scholarly articles in English, Turkish and German languages. The journal is open to contributions by all scholars. The RILP editors invite submission of analytical / theoretical articles, review articles, and research notes bearing on problems in international relations and international law. It does not publish strictly historical material, articles on current affairs, policy pieces, or narratives of a journalistic nature.

Questions regarding the status of submissions should be directed to the Editors by e-mail at slaciner@gmail.com or info@usak.org.uk . The referee reports are kept confidential and stored in the archives for five years.

    Although RILP (UHP) accepts submissions via post, processing of paper submissions takes longer, is less reliable, and is considered wasteful. Manuscripts submitted in hard copy will not be returned. Please send post submissions to:

    Length

    Articles as a rule should not exceed 10.000 words, not including footnotes. Book reviews should be about 2.500 word-lengths. Maximum 3.500 words for book reviews of two or more books.


    Style and Proofs

    Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts conform to the RILP style. Editors will not undertake retyping of manuscripts before publication. Please note that authors are expected to correct and return proofs of accepted articles within two weeks of receipt.


    Titles and Sub-Titles

    Titles in the article should be 12 punt, bold and in uppercase form. The sub-titles should be 12 punt and in the title case form.


    Footnotes

    In the case of books the following order should be observed in footnotes: author, title, (place of publishing: publisher, year). For example:

    Fernand Braudel, A History of Civilazations, (London: Penguin Books, 1993), p. 287.

    In articles: author(s), ‘article title’, journal title, Vol., No., year, pp.

    Book Reviews

    Book reviews should be preceded by full publication details including price and ISBN number:

    Alan Cassels, Ideology & International Relations in the Modern World, (London: Routledge, 1996). 302 pages. Biblio., index. $14.99. ISBN.


    Biography

    Current and recent academic and professional affiliations and recent major publications for the Notes on Contributors should be supplied with the articles. It should not exceed 100-word.


    Abstract

    The authors should send a 150-word abstract of the manuscripts.
