Kemal Arıkan Assassination

Kemal Arıkan, the Turkish Consul General in Los Angeles, is assassinated on 28 January 1982 by two terrorists as he sat alone in his automobile at a busy intersection in the Westwood section. ‘Justice Commandos of the Armenian Genocide’ declared it was responsible for the slaying of the consul general. 19 year old Hampig Sassounian is arrested and sentenced to life.
