On 9 September 1982 Bora Süelkan, the Administrative Attaché at the Turkish Consulate General in Burgaz (Bulgaria), is assassinated in front of his home. The assassin left a message "We shot dead the Turkish diplomat: Combat Units of Justice Against the Armenian Genocide." An anonymous caller to the Associated Press in Beirut (Lebanon) claimed that the assassination is the work of a branch of the ASALA.
